The flooded Audi e-tron GT that was resurrected thanks to rice

Who has not ever tried the rice trick to try to revive a phone or any other electronic device that we have fallen into the water. Myth for some, but very useful for others, someone has thought of resuscitate a flooded Audi e-tron GT using almost 2,000 kg of rice. And best of all, against all odds, the idea has worked for this electric car.

The protagonist of this curious case is an Audi e-tron GT that was unfortunately destined to end up scrapped after suffering a flood. Bought for a fraction of its original price at auction, we’re talking about a car that in Spain starts at 106,000 eurosthe protagonists of this video set out to try to recover it at all costs, even if that included such bizarre ideas as the use of rice to absorb moisture.

In fact, before making a decision on what to do with the car, it was tested with a conventional repair in search of those components and connections that could be failing. However, the car’s failures numbered in the dozens and there was no way for the Audi electric to work correctly. Given the complexity of the situation, They were encouraged to try less orthodox formulas, considering possibilities such as the use of absorbent cat litter, dehumidifiers or, the cheapest option of all, rice..

after creating a receptacle where the Audi e-tron GT could be covered with 2,000 kg of rice, it remained like this for several days, hoping that the rice would remove all the moisture from the vehicle in order to eradicate the problems that had been generated. And the miracle occurred. After the time of burial in rice, the Audi e-tron GT managed to come back to life and even show that it could move again. Although the instrument panel still showed numerous failures and it is practically impossible for this Audi e-tron GT to work completely well again, we do not know if it was rice or a combination of factors, but the fact is that this electric car has been resurrected.
