Fast X will be the first of the last two Fast and Furious movies. The franchise has not only revealed the date of its premiere, it has also released the first trailer that was screened at an event for fans of the saga that was held in Los Angeles. The penultimate installment of the franchise will not only deal with the importance of the family, it also recovers the original spirit: Street racing is back.
There was a time when Fast and Furious was a saga about cars and street racing, but with the passing of the movies they lost prominence. Vin Diesel has confessed, according to hollywood reporterthat this will change in the last film because it will be a return to their roots: “You wanted to return to the streets of Los Angeles. You wanted to go back to racing and to what it feels like. You wanted to go back to the cars that made this franchise what it is.”
The trailer reveals, without leaving much room for doubt, that we will see street racing again as in the first film… and also several models that attract attention. Of course, Dominic Toretto’s Dodge Charger is not missing as well as a new Dodge Charger Hellcat, an orange Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GT, a classic Nissan Z, a Chevrolet Impala, a Porsche 911 or a Lamborghini Gallardo, among others.
Brian Toretto: The Key
However, Fast X once again resorts to the most recent formula of the saga: defeating a villain, called Dante, who this time is played by Jason Momoa. Of course, this is the first time that the antagonist has dared to do the unthinkable: kidnap Brian, Toretto’s son. This seems to be the main plot.
This first preview, which lasts just over three and a half minutes, is a monologue by Jason Momoa’s character who addresses Dominic Toretto to tell him how he plans to break up his family after losing yours. It should be remembered that Hernán Reyes, Dante’s father, was the villain of the fifth installment of Fasta and Furious and loses his life while Toretto and his company rob a bank in Rio de Janeiro.
The proper names of Fast X
The trailer begins with a shot of Toretto’s house, in Los Angeles, and one of the classic family meals that have always been organized there throughout the saga. This scene leads to a succession of impossible car stunts, fight scenes… and yes, racing.
In addition to the vehicles, the trailer features several returning actors: Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibbons, Ludacris, Sung Kang, etc. Yeah, Brian O’Conner also appears, although only as part of the memories of past films. The protagonists will be joined by the new characters played by Rita Moreno or Brie Larson and, also, already known stars such as Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and John Cena, who plays Toretto’s brother: Jakob.
The most important piece of information for Fast and Furious fans comes at the end of the trailer: the release date. It will hit theaters on May 19 and with it, “the end of the road begins.”
