Did you want to see the Tesla Model S Plaid lose a drag race? Your wish is my command for the Lucid Air Sapphire

The Tesla Model S Plaid is one of those cars… bullies. A bit like the Mercedes G-Class in the off-road world. It is a car so effective and so absurdly fast that it has been the absolute winner of dozens of drag races. It has humiliated supercars that multiply their price tenfold, prepared cars and all its direct electric rivals. It has been possible thanks to its 1,020 CV of power, its all-wheel drive and its three electric motors. But kings can also be dethroned.

And it is that Tesla has come up with an unbeatable enemy in its own segment. This is the high-performance Sapphire version of the impressive Lucid Air electric saloon. Also designed and built in the United States, this saloon has three electric motors, more than 1,200 HP of power and permanent all-wheel drive. A weight of 2.5 tons does not seem to prevent him from doing the quarter mile in an incredible 9.1 seconds, on a conventional surface. In the quarter mile, it was three cars faster than the Tesla Model S Plaid.

We have among us a new “coconut” in the world of high-performance electric cars.

However, in the fantastic video recorded by Jason Cammisa, what is really interesting is to see how these two electric sedans fight against two titans of internal combustion. On the one hand, the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport, and on the other hand, a Ducati Panigale V4 SP2 with an American champion at its controls. Yes you want to see a Tesla bite the dust before internal combustionyou need to have this caliber of machinery, but even the best of the thermal age can’t beat the monstrous Lucid Air Sapphire.
