Kia Stinger Tribute Edition, the end of the Kia Stinger

The rumors have come to an end with the official confirmation from KIA. The South Korean brand has presented the KIA Stinger Tribute Edition, which he has defined as “an appropriate celebration” that commemorates the role played by the sports saloon since 2017. And he has added the last nail in his coffin: “Production of the innovative model comes to an end.”

The KIA Stinger is or, rather, has been a special car for KIA: was designed to change people’s perceptions of the brand and conquer new buyers. He did so by setting a new bar for performance within the South Korean house. And, in that sense, it has been a great success.

Its commercial cycle should have ended in 2024, but the low sales figures they have hastened their end. The person in charge of picking up the spiritual relay will be the new KIA EV6 GT, an electric car with two electric motors that develop 585 hp and a range of 420 kilometers.

Unpublished and exclusive finishes

The truth is that, until now, the rumors about the end of the production of the KIA Stinger had not stopped. Now we have confirmation from the brand, but nothing more. KIA has not clarified when it will roll off the production line, Exactly, his sports saloon: the bets speak of the end of 2023. Nor has he revealed when he will begin to shape his latest special edition, of which they will only make 1,000 units for the whole world.

The KIA Stinger Tribute Edition will mean a farewell in style. It will sport an exclusive, never-before-seen shade: a matte Moonscape grey, in addition to the existing Ascot Green. Each unit will be equipped with black 19-inch wheels and Brembo brake calipers. The interior will also be exclusive: it will be trimmed in Terracotta Brown leather and will feature a carbon-effect finish on both the upper console deck and door panels.

The recently introduced wasp-shaped emblem is embedded in the headrest of the seats. And the icing is in charge of a numbered plate, which will be located on the driver’s door sill.

Same old V6

The KIA Stinger Tribute Edition will retain one of the most famous features of the KIA Stinger: its 3.3-liter biturbo V6 that delivers a power of 370 hp at 6,000 rpm and has a maximum torque of 510 Nm, available from 1,300 to 4,500 rpm. That power is directed to the rear axle via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
