Its price continues to rise, but this anti-SUV with 640 liters of trunk is still a great purchase

For some time we have been warning why family cars derived from compacts are one of the best opportunities when buying a new car and the best alternative to SUVs. They’re roomy (incredibly roomy), much cheaper than an SUV with a similar trunk capacity, and, in many cases, stylish.

And if we had to make a selection of the five most interesting family members on the market, we have no doubt that the Skoda Octavia in its Combi version would be among them. Between the arguments to buy this relative and not another we would choose its excellent relationship between quality and price, but also the fact that from its access version, the one with the cheapest offer, we would take it with the ECO label thanks to its micro-hybrid engine.

But not everything is positive in this story. The offer price of the Skoda Octavia Combi continues to increase month by month. And we are very much afraid that it will continue to do so throughout this year.

A family member on offer from €27,300

Today you can buy a Skoda Octavia Combi from €27,300, with all promotions applied and the requirement to finance the purchase at the dealer. If you want to pay cash, its offer price is €28,300. The price of the Skoda Octavia Combi is the same as that of its sedan version. With which the extension of its body and its trunk in its Combi family version is not overpriced.

The Skoda Octavia Combi in this offer has an ECO label, with a 110 HP micro-hybrid gasoline engine, with the Selection equipment line. If we configure it with a DSG change, its price already amounts to €28,473.

As we said, the Skoda Octavia has experienced a really significant price increase in recent years, although it is true that in the process it has significantly improved its standard equipment and what its access mechanics offer. Until 2021 it was possible to purchase it for less than €20,000. In October 2022 it started at €25,200, in November at €27,300, and in December at €26,900.

What other options can I buy?

Today its most interesting rival, and with a very similar price, is the Toyota Corolla Touring Sports from €27,500, with this offer that requires financing the purchase (cash is €27,700). Toyota’s also has the ECO label, a more sophisticated hybrid system (full hybrid) and well proven, which has just been updated to reach 140 HP of power and is automatic throughout the range.

Another highly recommended option, without a doubt, is the second-hand market. there is a Used Skoda Octavia loose offer, well below €20,000, depending on the kilometers and the age of the vehicle. And it is a car that, unlike SUVs, is not at crazy prices at all:
