The DGT application that already has more than 8 million drivers expands its functionalities

For some time now, drivers in our country have been able to get hold of the “services” of a mobile application developed by the General Directorate of Traffic. We are talking about the MiDGT application, an app that has become very popular if we take into account that by now more than 8 million drivers have downloaded it to their mobile phones. Now the DGT announces the arrival of new features to the application, but… what are its main uses?

The truth is that the MiDGT application, available for both Apple devices and Android devices, has quickly gained prominence. So much so that the first million downloads arrived in just a few months despite the fact that initially its use was restricted to a few thousand devices that were able to download the application almost in “beta” mode. The DGT has worked hard to make this application useful, to the point that it is currently possible to carry out more than 40 different procedures through mobile phone.

One of the main functions of MiDGT is to legally carry the driver’s license digitally. Yes, with this app it is not necessary to carry our driving license physically, since the permit shown in virtual format is completely valid in the eyes of traffic agents, also serving as an identification document in case we are required in any situation.

MiDGT expands its functionalities

Other features were progressively added to the identification of the driver through the virtual driver’s license, such as the possibility of consulting vehicle reports, both free and paid, the possibility of showing technical sheets and virtual circulation permits and even the payment of different traffic rates through the application itself.

Now the DGT announces the arrival of new functions to the application, specifically two that can be very useful:

  • Possibility of scoring temporary casualties in vehicles that are in our name, a procedure that, it should be remembered, allows deregistering a vehicle that is not going to be used in a prudential time and subsequently reregistering it. Temporary withdrawals have a duration of one year, which can be extended, and cost less than €9.
  • Geolocation of points of interest of the General Directorate of Traffic: ITVs, driver recognition centers, driving schools or authorized vehicle treatment centers (scrapyards).

With these new functionalities, 45 procedures are reached with the possibility of being carried out without having to go to a traffic headquarters since, let’s remember, It is also possible to do some through the citizen service telephone number 060, toll-free number through which it is possible, for example, to pay fines or traffic fees.
