The great launch of Mitsubishi this year is an SUV that has already begun to be manufactured in Valladolid

It’s Mitsubishi’s big launch this year. And it will also be the first Mitsubishi to be manufactured in Spain, at the Renault factory in Valladolid.

The new Mitsubishi ASX will arrive in dealerships this spring. And he will do it with a range of engines in which there will be room for engines with the ECO labelgasoline micro-hybrids between 90 and 160 CV, and a 145 CV full hybrid engine, and a 160 CV plug-in hybrid with a Zero Emissions label.

Mitsubishi would thus complete a range of passenger cars in which there is room for one of the cheapest cars on the market, the Space Star, and an SUV with a Zero Emissions label, the Eclipse Cross.

A Renault Captur with the Mitsubishi emblem

The reason why a Mitsubishi is going to be produced at the Renault factory in Valladolid is none other than that this new Mitsubishi ASX is a Renault Captur with the Mitsubishi emblem. Somehow this could be a missed opportunity. And it is that we cannot avoid the feeling that Mitsubishi could have opted for greater differentiation to create a product with more personality that, without a doubt, would position itself as one of the most interesting in its category.

The “rebranding” strategy is not exclusive to Mitsubishi and Renault and, in fact, we can still find numerous examples on the market of cars that have received the emblem of another brand.

According to the information that some workers from the Renault factory have transferred to the newspaper Valladolid Day, the first units of the Mitsubishi ASX have already begun to leave the lines of the Valladolid factory.

We will have to wait to try it, but above all to find out how the range and prices of the new Mitsubishi ASX are articulated, to determine what differentiates it from the Renault Captur. At the moment we can only talk about the range and prices of the Renault Captur, which is undoubtedly one of the most interesting proposals in its category, starting with a Renault Captur that starts from €20,792 and that It can be purchased for €24,789 in its hybrid version complete and with ECO label. An excellent price for a product like this.
