The hybrid and electric SUV with size from SEAT Ateca for which it is worth waiting for 2023

Buying a compact SUV is becoming more and more complicated, not only because of the wide range of options that exist, but also because of the difficulties of finding a model that has the most important DGT labels to its credit. Well, the people of Hyundai want to put an end to this headache with the new Hyundai Kona, a car that grows to be only 8 millimeters behind a SEAT Ateca, has hybrid and electric versions. and it is well worth waiting until 2023 for this car.

And it is that beyond the fact that the new Kona is still a very complete SUV in terms of mechanics, now we find ourselves with an abusive jump in terms of design and technology. This leaves behind a design that, although it remained fresh after the restyling, began to feel somewhat outdated, and it is thrown into a groundbreaking design language that inherits a lot from its more recent brothers.

This is the new Hyundai Kona, the car for which it is worth waiting for 2023

And it is that this presents an LED light signature that runs without interruption across the entire front -the same happens in the rear- and that he receives directly from Staria. The side, for its part, shows off its more than generous 4.35 meters in length thanks to much drier and sharper lines that are reminiscent, in a certain way, of those presented by its older brother, the Hyundai Tucson.

But the cabin of the new Hyundai Kona also deserves a separate mention. In this enroll now two 12.3-inch screens each one and, while the first is responsible for representing the dashboard, the second shows everything related to the infotainment system. But perhaps more important is the leap in terms of quality of materials and that the happy piano black has been refused in favor of a gray plastic.

Minimalism is also noticeable in the interior of the Korean SUV, but it is carried out in a smart way. And it is that luckily, the designers of the new Kona they have opted for physical buttons that at no time do they break in with the general cleaning that it offers, allowing us to manage systems such as air conditioning through two roulette wheels, for example.

But the true high point of the new Hyundai Kona really resides in its mechanical range. And it is that the SUV uses engines of combustion, hybrid and electric, that is, the three options necessary to satisfy all types of customers. However, the firm has not yet disclosed data on these, indicating that it will be soon when we know about the benefits of all versions.

Be that as it may, the lowest echelon of its range of engines will be made up of plain gasoline, an engine that will be three-cylinder, turbo and that produces power around 110 CV. In the case of the hybrid we are facing an HEV option and not PHEVwhich means that it wears the DGT ZERO label and that it will surely combine a 150 CV four-cylinder with an electric motor.

And finally the electric one, which surely displays the same mechanical scheme that the 100% electric Niro presents. That is to say, a 204 hp and 255 Nm motor that, together with a 64.8 kWh battery, guarantees a range of 463 kilometers under the WLTP cycle. But luckily for the most motor enthusiasts, the new Kona will not settle for these three engines.

This is because this second generation of the Hyundai SUV will again wear the distinctive N on its rear. This way, we will meet a new Kona N that, thanks to the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder, will be sportier and more aggressive than before, being able to reach and even exceed 300 CV to compete more tenaciously with the Volkswagen Tiguan R and company.

However, what about the prices of the new Hyundai Kona? At the moment the brand has not revealed any details about the outlay to face for its latest renovation, but taking into account that its predecessor had a starting price of 19,640 euros, we can expect that, with the evolution in size, design and technology that has experienced this, the increase brings the starting price closer to 23,000 or 24,000 euros.

Be that as it may, it will not be until well into the year 2023 when we put an end to all the uncertainties that haunt us about the new Hyundai Kona. What is clear is that it has become a car that will not only give a lot to talk about, but surely also become one of the most sensible and attractive options next year, although time will tell.
