Apple released a list of the most downloaded apps on the iOS platform this year. Among the top free apps were TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. Paid apps included Minecraft and Procreate Pocket. TikTok also topped the paid app list. Riot Games and Toca Boca also won awards for their iPhone apps.
Among the most popular iOS games are Clash of Clans and Tinder, which together earned nearly $4 billion in consumer spending worldwide in the first half of 2017. App Annie examined the most popular games published by top publishers like Electronic Arts, Tencent, Gameloft, Rovio, Glu, and Disney. Other companies include Facebook and Google.
Another top app on the iPhone is Facebook Messenger. This messaging service spun off from the in-app chat function on Facebook has become the third most popular app of all time. Facebook is working to re-design its Messenger app to make it more user-friendly and easier to use. Snapchat, however, continues to rank among the top iPhone apps despite slowing user growth.
