A little over a year ago we published a video in which we showed you why a van is a better family vehicle than an SUV and than a traditional station wagon. A few days ago we published an interesting comparison between the Renault Kangoo Combi and the Volkswagen Caddy, taking advantage of the fact that only the Toyota Proace City Verso is the only passenger van of Stellantis origin for sale with a thermal engine. And today, we talk to you about the Renault Kangoo, its price, and what is, from our point of view, one of its most interesting versions.
The Renault Kangoo Combi is the passenger version of the Kangoo, and can be registered as tourism. It is only available, at least for now, with a short body – it measures 4.49 meters long – and five seats. But in the size of a compact SUV, it makes much better use of space, being much superior in both cargo space and space in the second row of seats. This van is available with diesel or gasoline engines, as well as a 100% electric version. Nevertheless, lacks hybrid versionsTherefore, there is no ECO label in its range.
There are no hybrid versions in the Kangoo range. Yes, there is a 100% electric version, as in many of its rivals.
The version I want to tell you about mounts the 130 hp 1.3 TCe engine, a four-cylinder turbo gasoline. This engine can be associated with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. In the case of the car analyzed, the change is manual and boasts the best features of the range. Even so, a 0 to 100 km/h of 12.8 seconds is not something to get excited about either. All in all, it is an engine that offers good recoveries and will not falter with the van loadedas it happens with the diesel of 75 CV or 95 CV.
This engine is ideal if the use of the van is going to be very urban or we do not plan to drive many kilometers annually. This engine is also mounted on brands such as Mercedes and is a refined mechanics. However, it must be taken into account that its average consumption is 6.8 l/100 km, 1.5 l/100 km more than the diesel engine. As for the rest of the vehicle, it boasts an interior with a careful but suffered finish, many practical solutions, and above all, a gigantic trunk with a volume of 775 liters – where our whole life fits.
The Renault Kangoo cannot carry digital instrumentation, it is analog with a small on-board computer.
The equipment of the Equilibre version, the intermediate version of the range, is more than enough for our day to day with the Renault Kangoo Combi. Includes a 8-inch screen for the infotainment system and is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Although its sheet metal wheels are covered by hubcaps, it has air conditioning, rear windows, cruise control, rear parking sensors and driving assistance such as automatic emergency braking or lane keeping assistant.
The price of this Renault Kangoo Combi with Equilibre finish and 130 CV 1.3 TCe engine is €26,658 right now. He is a final price reasonable, in which additionally there could be discounts for financing. It is a competitive price, comparable to that of promoted access versions of SUVs such as a Hyundai Tucson or a SEAT Ateca, which it exceeds in size, practical component and cargo space. If for our needs we opt for a diesel of 1.5 liters and 115 CV, the price will be about 700 euros higher.
