The rebirth of a myth, Alfa Romeo and Zagato team up to create a new Giulia TZ in 2023

Two of the great references in automotive design will work together again. Alfa Romeo and Zagato have just confirmed the collaboration to create a new model that picks up the baton from the mythical Tubolare Zagato. Starting from the Giulia, in 2023 we will witness the birth of a very special model, possibly in a coupé format and equipped with the best of Alfa in terms of benefits. This will be the new Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato.

We must go back to the year 1963 to know the origin of this story at the hands of the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ, a berlinetta with a Kammback silhouette that has become a highly valued work of art and inspired a saga that would later lead to the TZ2 (1964), TZ3 Corsa (2010) and TZ3 Stradale (2011). The collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Zagato over time has seen more creatures as well demonstrated by the Giulietta SZ or the more modern Alfa Romeo SZ, but the truth is that this union had not given rise to a production car for a long time. in series capable of exceeding ten units.

Manufactured in a limited series, the Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato will go one step further than the performance of the Giulia GTA

In 2023 we will see the result of this collaboration giving birth to an Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato, as this will be its official name, based on the Giorgio platform on which the Alfa Romeo Giulia sits, as well as other Stellantis models such as the Stelvio or the Maserati Grecale. As its name indicates, at a structural level we will see a cut of the battle, possibly to create a two-door coupethat picks up the baton of the so many times promised return of the GTV.

Mechanically, everything points to a new evolution of the powertrain used by the Giulia Quadrifoglio., taking the 2.9 V6 Twin-Turbo even further to surpass the 540 horsepower claimed by the Giulia GTA and GTAm. But there could still be an even bigger surprise, because from EVO they talk about the possibility of seeing a 100% electric variant of this Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato using the propulsion system of the Maserati GranTurismo Folgorewhich would mean talking about the first electric car from Alfa Romeo and a whole supercar with no less than 761 CV.
