Travis Pastrana’s Wildest Gymkhana

Posted on

It was more than ten years ago when Ken Block released the first video of the series ‘Gymkhana’ starring a rally-ready 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Today, these recordings continue to generate interest because when we think that it is not possible to overcome the crazy things they do… they do. The last one will keep you glued to the screen for ten minutes and you might have to watch it a couple of times to believe that it’s all real.

baptized as ‘Vacation Shred’ is the second Gymkhana starring Travis Pastrana: the one in charge of picking up the baton from Ken Block since 2020. After the Electrikhana, recorded in Las Vegas by the creator of the franchise, comes the second installment this year: recorded in Florida, it has been defined by its protagonist as the “wildest ” Until now. And it is not for less: she ended up in the hospital.

The co-star: a Subaru GL Wagon

Travis Pastrana shares the spotlight with ‘Family Huckster’, a 1983 Subaru GL Wagon powered by a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder engine that sends over 860bhp to all four wheels via a sequential six-speed transmission. It also borrows some of the aerodynamic tricks from the Subaru WRX STI Airslayer, the vehicle he drove in his previous Gymkhana.

It is not the only vehicle that appears: the Chevrolet El Camino with more than 3,000 CV of Cleetus McFarland makes a cameo, as does a jet ski on wheels (yes, on wheels), a helicopter, and even a fighter plane. And, by the way, don’t miss the appearance of some well-known faces from the world of cinema and television.

base jumping

For this Gymkhana they should not have left anything in their pocket: you are going to find skateboard tricks adapted to the Subaru GL Wagon, a race with the fighter plane that we told you about before, spinning with a Monster Truck doing wheelies, a couple of jumps at 265 km/h… In total, ten minutes full of unreal stunts.

As in other videos, there are scenes that don’t go well and make your hair stand on end: ‘Vacation Shred’ begins and ends with a base jump by Travis Pastrana, who it ended with the pilot in the hospital due to the multiple fractures and injuries he sustained. It goes without saying that you should not try anything you see on your own.
